- Will I need both Medicare A and B to enroll?
- In order to get a Medicare Advantage or Medigap you must be entitled to Part A and enrolled in Part B.
- For either plans, you must continue to pay your medicare part B premium, unless assistance is received.
- What about Standalone drug plans?
- For standalone drug plans, you only need to be entitled to part A OR enrolled into part B.
- Is there underwriting for MAPD plans?
- No however, you must have both parts of Medicare A and B, as well as be located in YOUR service area.
- Will my Hospital Cancer/Heart attack plan prevent me/significant other from enrolling?
- No, your Hospital plans will remain intact.
- If I move, will I have to change plans?
- It depends. If your plan is still available within your new service area, then no, you will not. However, if your plan falls into a service area that does not support your current plan, Medicare will grant you an SEP (special enrollment period) to enroll into a new plan.
- What is the difference between MediGap and Medicare Advantage?
- Medicare Supplement(MediGap) fills in most--if not all-- of the cost sharing of Medicare. After 2006, MediGap plans(unless grandfathered in) were no longer credible for PART D coverage. In order to purchase prescriptions, you must order a Standalone prescription drug plan, or get your Part D coverage through a MAPD plan.
- Medicare Advantage are plans that are offered by private insurance companies for your Medicare services. Many of these plans will have prescription coverage built into your plan.
